Programs such as Safe City, is a community-based initiative that unites businesses, residents, city officials, and law enforcement to maximize safety and minimize theft and other crimes.
Starting with the City of Mesa in Arizona, Iveda Solutions is a part of an organization consisting of major corporations in the city and city agencies to plan and organize the concept of Safe City.
Iveda Solutions is in active negotiations with other police departments in CA for a city-wide deployment of public safety cameras with real-time video management and accessibility. Its not all about putting up cameras, but its how cameras are integrated into one manageable system, for which cameras can be viewed simultaneously in real-time by multiple users, such as the business owners, first responders, and possibly an outsourced video surveillance company.
The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 provides that “funding allocations for state and local law enforcement assistance are available through the Edward Byrne Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program.” This program supports activities that help control crime. Real-time remote surveillance services are an integral part of supporting those efforts by states and municipalities. According to President Barack Obama, the stimulus funds “are a vital component in our effort to not just revive our economy, but to build a new foundation for lasting prosperity and security. By keeping police officers on the streets whose jobs were threatened by budget cuts and ensuring states and municipalities have the tools and equipment necessary to fight crime, this money will simultaneously help jumpstart the American economy and protect our citizens.” See Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program and allocations information. Funds will be available for:
* Law enforcement programs.
* Prosecution and court programs.
* Prevention and education programs.
* Drug enforcement programs.
* Planning, evaluation, and technology improvement programs.

Real-Time Video Surveillance, 24/7
A Proactive Security Solution for Public Safety
Real-time distribution and sharing of video data allow first responders a more efficient and faster, coordinated response for public safety.
The advent of IP (Internet Protocol) cameras or network cameras has added a new dimension to public safety. Even more so, the availability of high-speed Internet access has propelled companies like Iveda Solutions to develop services that make such cameras more functional and powerful.
Iveda Solutions specializes in providing a proactive security solution using a combination of network cameras, a real-time Internet-based surveillance system, and a unique remote surveillance facility with highly-trained intervention specialists. Human monitors watching cameras in real time, ready to assess any situation and act accordingly, instead of allowing a crime to proceed and watch the video footage after-the-fact for investigative purposes, makes the Iveda Solutions security solution unique.
For the public sector that has cameras in the public domain, which may require more discretion, Iveda Solutions can host the video through its data center and then rebroadcast to multiple users within law enforcement without degradation of video quality.
Integrating Security Cameras for Optimum Public Safety
Thousands of cameras are already in the public domain, but are not integrated and often not monitored. Iveda Solutions' infrastructure allows first responders to have simultaneous access to these cameras whenever necessary to thwart a potential crime or respond appropriately to certain events.
Using a new breed of cameras and camera servers that are IP (Internet Protocol) –centric, these cameras can now be integrated in order to be managed more efficiently and allows real-time distribution of video data to appropriate agencies.
Iveda Solutions will convert existing CCTV or analog camera infrastructure into digital to be able to network the cameras for remote access using the Internet. This will allow future cameras that will be coming online to be seamlessly integrated into the network.
Cameras can be monitored in real-time by dispatchers or by Iveda Solutions' intervention specialists at a fraction of the cost of hiring a dedicated person to do so. Either way, suddenly these cameras can now extend police department’s resources that are often times deficient of police officers.

Public Safety Applications:
Remote Surveillance of Traffic – Allows real-time traffic surveillance for immediate deployment of first responders in cases of accidents. First responders can be notified shortly after the accident for expedited response which can save lives and restore the normal flow of traffic faster.
Courtesy Patrol – High risk corridors, communities, and right-of-way, currently being physically patrolled by police officers, can now be patrolled remotely using cameras. This reallocates police officers for more mission-critical tasks.
Checkpoints/Toll Gates/Border Crossing – Having these areas with monitored cameras will provide better safety for the people working there. Illegal crossings will be caught live and dealt with accordingly.
Natural Disaster Recovery – In case of natural disasters, shared video data amongst first responders, whether federal, state, or local, will now allow them to assess the situation and coordinate instantaneous and synchronized response.
Monitor Public Areas – Ability to better monitor common public areas for vandalism and other illegal activities.
Public Alert Integration – Iveda Solutions-enabled cities can now cooperate more effectively with neighboring cities whenever a public alert is issued. This will increase the chances of catching perpetrators shortly after (or while) a crime is committed.
Mobile Solutions – Iveda Solutions provides mobile camera solutions for squad and tactical vehicles for real-time accessibility to cameras that can be used for stakeouts, public right-of-way security and safety around the city. Monitored cameras on squad cars can also increase safety of police officers and protects the rights of citizens during routine traffic stops.
